Wild and Precious Life A transformational ritual I performed in my hand-made ceremonial costume for part of my MA in Fine Art, 2021

Working with universal human experiences in my art, I invite you to take time with my art to process feelings, share stories and connect with our imperfect human condition. My work is inspired by fragility and vulnerability, and I’m drawn to ritual for facilitating transformative change. My work is informed and fed by mindful movement, Vipassana meditation, an interest in Buddhism, Taoism, Jungian psychology, the natural world and decades of practice as a Clinical Psychologist.

ā€œTell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?ā€ – from The Summer Day, by Mary Oliver

With embodied practice as a method, my MA research explored embodiment in the process of hand weaving (where the rhythm and repetition in making supported a recalibration of the nervous system after the injury of trauma), and woven glass forms. I was selected for a collaborative project for Tate Exchange and MIRROR, 2021.

I was awarded membership of Contemporary Arts Membership Plymouth for my socially engaged art and was a board member for Warp and Weft; Story weavers, CIC, Exeter.
